A Mother's Love

Maternity sessions are truly something special.

I'm so happy when moms choose to photograph this special time in their lives.

The new life that you're creating is a magical time for you and your partner.

You deserve to have this season documented so that you can look back on it forever.

But the options? Whew!

This part can get overwhelming.

Do I want a studio session? Outdoor?

Keep reading and let's discuss it!

Which Session Location Should I Choose?

Honestly, this all comes down to personal preference, the "look" that you want, and how well you can tolerate the weather outside.

We can do a studio session at my Port Neches studio or an outdoor session.

Summer in Southeast Texas is HOT.

Most moms choose indoors and I don't blame them one bit!

My Port Neches studio has air conditioning so we'll be nice and cool.

The best time to book at maternity session is between 29-36 weeks.

If you want to use your pictures for a baby shower, let me know so that we can book with plenty of time in advance for you to print your pictures.

My Professional Opinion

You know your kids and partner best.

If you have small children or a large family, the location can matter.

Younger children sometimes need more room so that they can run and play and that's okay!

I usually suggest the great outdoors for larger families so that we have more room to move and can get that "storytelling" feel.

While my studio is large, we're limited to poses and backdrops. We can still get beautiful images! But, if your kiddos are the type that want to explore, outdoors may be a better option. We can let them lead the session and go where they want to.

This family was was effortless and made everything  easy peasy. And, if you can go with the flow, that really helps so much too. Be open to the process and we'll have a beautiful gallery!

What Should I Wear?

What you wear to your session is very important.

I generally suggest wearing no more than two outfits.

Going over two outfits cuts into session time and can reduce the amount of images in your gallery.

After you book with me, I send a style guide to help you shop and coordinate outfits with anyone else if they're joining the session with you.

I have a large client closet full of dresses for moms that you're welcome (and encouraged) to use.

A lot of the dresses are a one size fits most and designed to fit expecting mothers.

Don't stress about shopping when you can use the client closet!
