Planning your babies one year session
Planning a baby milestone or birthday session is one of the sweetest parts of watching your little one grow. The theme you choose helps tell the story of this stage of their life. Some moms already have a vision in mind, while others just know they want something special. Both are perfectly okay.
Here are a few tips to help you choose a theme that feels just right.
Start With the Birthday Theme
Many moms choose to match their photo session theme with their baby’s birthday party. This keeps everything cohesive and makes the photos perfect for invitations, decorations, and keepsakes.
If you’re planning a “One Happy Camper,” “Wild One,” or “Berry First Birthday” party, bringing that same idea into your session can make everything feel tied together. It also gives you beautiful images to display at the party.
But matching the party theme isn’t a must.
Choose Something You Simply Love
Sometimes the best themes have nothing to do with the party at all. Maybe you love soft florals, vintage toys, books, or something playful like a lemonade stand.
Your baby’s session can be as simple or as creative as you want. The goal is to create a setting that feels joyful and timeless so when you look back at these photos years from now, they still feel special.
Pinterest Is Your Best Friend
If you’re not sure where to start, Pinterest is a goldmine for inspiration. A quick search for baby milestone sessions or cake smash themes can spark so many ideas.
When you find photos you love, save them and send them my way. Inspiration pictures are incredibly helpful because they show me the colors, textures, and style you're drawn to.

Once you’ve gathered a few ideas, send them to me and we’ll start planning. You don’t have to have every detail figured out. Even a few photos that capture the feeling you want is enough for me to build from.
Some moms send three photos.
Some send five.
